1.02 has only been out a Day or two .... maybe three now
I wasn't sure if I wanted to Update
The GH22 was burning just fine - as it was
I only use 16x+R/TYo3 and 16x-R/Verbatim
.... So i tried it
so far .... It's just a little faster
A little faster in finalization too
I'm only taking about a few seconds faster ... but faster

Here's how to get LG's Auto Firmware Updater
Go here :
http://www.lge.com/support/software.jsp
Select
> Location = North America > USA/ Canada
Then
> Product = DVD-ROM (writer)
> Operating System = Vista
> Subject = LG Auto Firmware Download
Download the .zip file to your Desktop
You'll need to "Extract All" from the .zip
and then run the setup file
You'll need to allow Internet Access ( AV/IS )
The Updater will probably need to Update itself - before being active
To Manually Search For Firmware Updates
> Product = DVD-ROM (writer)
> Operating System = Vista
> Subject = Firmware
Look through the Listings for your Specific Drive
I would recommend Disabling the LG Auto Firmware Updater
- from Windows Start-up
You can open the Updater at any time - from All Programs

When I run it from the "start menu", it downloads the file and the update will be installed upon rebooting... after rebooting it does the update, Windows recognizes the new firmware (actually sees a new drive) and says the hardware is properly installed but may not work properly until PC is restarted..., so I restart again.
I didn't get that when the updater was running in the background.... at least I don't remember it working that way. Either way... its no big deal.![]()

I guess my PC liked the reboot so much that it lied to me to get another one...![]()

Has anyone tried out this new firmware? It specically says to only have the LG attached as master on the IDE cable, with no other drive attached during the flashing. PIA if you ask me, but they state that if it's not done this way, it'll damage the drive.
Anyways, I'm planning to flash it but wonder if any of you have already.

I have the LP20. When I updated to 1.02 I just updated as usual. If there was that message, I didn't notice.![]()
However, I do believe I am in compliance with the message because the LP20 is connected in "master" position and my other drive is the 203B(SATA), so it's not connected to same cable.
I think Shannon updated her NP20 and she didn't mention it.![]()
