I have changed the write mode to prefer dao (sao), now the 1 click just keeps telling me that transformers is not a movie in drive! I have also changed the writing speed to 8x, can any one help me with this.
It is a new dvd drive so i do not know what is going on.
Do I need to remove nero from my pc is that what might cause something not to work properly?

Select 8X burning speed, 18X may be to fast and 6X isnt really supported by alot of drives firmware to well and forget the media you have thats not Sony its crap although you can do better with some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden, also Google and download and install the latest version of Dvd43 which is 4.6.0 the version you have is 4.5.0, also turn off media stats collection by VSO. As for Nero only Nero`s InCd is known to cause problems if you have that in you only need to uninstall InCD you can leave the rest of Nero installed.

Have you been using the Sony media all along, or are they new to your burner? Some burners just won't work with them.

Right Click on the 1Click Interface > Settings Menu

UN Check = "Enable media stats collection - VSO"


Since ... you are burning -R Media ....
>>Set= Your "DVD-R Write Mode" at "Prefer DAO(SAO)"

Once you have changed the DVD-R Write Mode Setting
You must Close -and Then Re open 1Click for the setting to be effective ...

Here's the Usual .....troubleshoots ...
Let's check something .....

Go to > Start > My Computer
> Right Click on DVD drive > Properties > Auto-Play tab

What do you have selected for the "Action to Perform" for 'DVD Movie" ?
This should be set as "Take no action"

What do you have selected for the "Action to Perform" for 'Blank CD" ?
This should be set as "Take no action"

Another way To test the 'Blank CD" AutoPlay handler
> exit All DVD/CD programs
> Insert a blank DVD/CD Media into your Drive
and let the Drive recognize the blank
Are you presented with a Prompt ?
- or Does a Program automatically open ?

If nothing happens - Good , that's what you want .
If you are Prompted to select a program
Select 'Take No Action"
Check 'always use this action'
Click OK

Tell me If a / which -Program automatically opens

Go to > Start > My Computer
> Right Click on DVD drive > Properties
Here in the DVD Drive 'Properties"
Do you have a "DLA" tab ?
= Disable DLA

Here's some Help - with maybe ... reducing your Computer's load ....

I'd recommend that you Try using EnditALL while Copying/Burning
... to free up your resources
... You might be surprised at what's running - in the background


Open Advanced SystemCare Free > Utilities > Admin Tools > Start-Up Manager
( it's completely free and a very recommended clean-up program )


You will be presented with a listing of the Programs
- Programs that are designated to Start-Up with Windows
- and Descriptions of Each ( Click on Selection )

Any Start Up Entry - Referring to any DVD/CD Software ?
Windows Media Player ?
ITunes ?

If So = UN Check it

This only Disables the Program - from the List
- Designated to 'Start-Up' - with Windows
You would - still - be able to 'manually' start the Program(s) - when needed

Also ......
UN Check anything - Not Trustworthy
UN Check anything - Not Necessary or Not Preferred
( you may click on an Start-Up item > Select Disable - If you prefer )
>> Apply
> Reboot


or -
You could also , Go into Msconfig - and Deselect unneeded Programs
- from your 'Start Up"
This will help a lot .....

Well I wanted this dvd drive for the light scribe, and it was 39.99, on newegg.ca, but I am going to return it and get another one. Do you have any recommendations for around the same price? It is within the 30 days so I would be glad to return it if that will solve my problems. Also all the links that you did post, the firmware does not apply to my dvd drive which to me is really weird
