Thanks Shannon, that's exactly where I got it. It gets a bit confusing though when you see several for your drive:

Lite-On iHAS422Version Date Filename
EL1N 2nd October, 2009 EL1N.EXE
EL1A 7th September, 2009 EL1A.EXE
4L18 2nd September, 2009 4L18.EXE
4L17 19th June, 2009 4L17.exe
4L16 8th March, 2009 4L16.exe
4L11 20th October, 2008 4L11.rar

I figured, well, it's 4Lxx right now so had better stick with that series.

Thanks

I think you've got it! If its the wrong one, it will reject it...99.9% of the time.

..and the other 0.1% of the time it'll take it and then promptly turn into an expensive paperweight, or cup holder...whatever...LOL.

Actually they've come down in price so much these days, it wouldn't worry me too much. Now if it were my Blu-Ray drives, that I have stashed away for whenever I decide to go that route, I might complain.

I haven't heard of anyone bricking a drive, lately. That 0.1% will update incorrectly, but allow you to reflash back to the original or other correct firmware. The problems come from hacked firmware that may or may not have the same verifications for ensuring its the proper firmware for the proper drive model.
