When registering, many software vendors use the Volume Serial Number. This is a bad practice, because each time the drive is reformatted or the O/S is changed the Volume Serial Number also changes, giving the vendor a false impression that you are pirating their product.
What the vendors should be using is the Manufacturers Volume Drive Serial Number. This doesn't change with formats or new O/S. With this and a back up of an I/P address they would be assured that pirating isn't happening when they think it is. Actually the IP address does them little good, because I have a simple utility program that allows me to pick IP Addresses at random. So stick with the Manufacturers Volume Drive Serial Number and they will be all set. Write to them or phone them or maybe Gregory will see this post and change the method, if in fact that is where the error lays. Good Luck. |

Please don't distribute erroneous information.
You can reformat your computer 10 times a day, and you can still reinstall LGSI products with no problem. You change hard drives and reinstall with no problem. You can change Operating Systems with no problem. You can change the CPU and not have any problems. Changing the motherboard is the same as buying a new computer, so the REG ID will have to be reset... and even that isn't usually any problem. A simple email to LG Support.

The information I posted is not erroneous but FACTUAL. Research before you post a remark such as that.
No one is disagreeing with you, Gapony, but that wasn't the issue, the issue was losing the registry data. The reason why that data is lost may be for why I posted. Please understand what you are talking about before you get involved in a post that was NOT addressed to you. Thank You. Yes! He will have to call support if he upgrades the computer by buying a NEW one. If he is only upgrading the O/S etc the info I gave will still recognize him as being the proper owner. Geez! Ga always looking for a fight, aren't you? Not every vendor uses the Manufacturers Volume Drive Serial Number. Not every vendor uses the IP Address which is a good thing because I and many people like to stay hidden and not use our real IP. Kinda like donotcall.gov or not offering my SSN when asked. The problem started when Vendors decided not to sell the software, but to sell the license. There are many ways to track and please reread my post and read the last few words. The information is very accurate and may or may not be the problem. There really was no need for you to post any comment at all, but you felt compiled to, WHY? If you want to post to an individual, use the Private Messaging service, which you are familiar with... an open forum is a public forum.
Wingwiper, you didn't say anything about losing any registry data. Are there missing posts in this thread? You certainly didn't cite any reference thread. If you are referencing this... http://forum.lgsoftwareinnovations.c...57&postcount=1
I answered him there, and my answer here was correct for the problem he was having. A. 1Click works very well with Win 7. That is the case now and that was the case then. B. There is not/was not a requirement for resetting the registration key when upgrading, uninstalling/re-installing the same OS, or uninstalling one OS and changing to another OS on the same PC. C. You imply that the current methodology used by LGSI gives their verification system a false impression of the legitimacy of the installed software whenever the drive is reformatted or the OS is upgraded. This is absolutely incorrect. As I stated before, you can re-format your drive or install/reinstall/upgrade OS's all day long and not trigger a "This software is already installed on another computer" alert. In fact, it is quite easy to edit either the Volume Serial Number or the Manufacturer's Hard Drive Hardware ID in the registry, or perhaps easier yet, spoof them. There is more to whatever method LGSI uses, than simply relying on the volume serial number. As usual, none of this has anything to do with the OP's initial post. I'm sure when you start writing programs, you'll use a much better system of protecting your intellectual property. I don't ever remember being able to purchase software... but I've been doing this stuff since 1971 and can't ever recall a single instance of an author selling his software, except in the case of selling thier source code for a particular corporate contract. Software authors have always sold licenses to thier products... certainly in regards to software for personal computers. Perhaps you could cite some examples where the software program itself was sold.

I guess she didn't have a "Ready to Paste" post for a Wingwiper thread.

FYI just because a post goes over your head, doesn't make it erroneous.
The Regestry Data I referred to, was NOT the REGISTERY FILE of the O/S he wanted the registration data of 1 click. Are you people so hard up for an argument all of the time you have to misread intentionally just so you can get one started. Maybe Ga and a few others should research what I posted. Learn a little something outside of the 1click umbrella. I am not going to argue with any of you, you aren't worth it. I labeled the Thread so Blind Oldman would have a course of action. It is the same course of action I went through many years ago with a company named Voyetra. FYI, everytime I reinstalled my hard drive or upgraded my computer (new Hard drives or Mother board) I was sent an email telling me I had X number of copies left. Once I hit the last copy when I upgraded from a 80 gb HD to a 200 GB hard drive, I was sent an email telling me I had pirated their software and I was denied the registry key to unlock the software. The reason after writing them several letters was that they used the Volume Serial Number for registration purposes and tracking. Once I informed them about the Manufacturers Volume Drive Serial Number and how it did not change with upgrades, re installs, re formats etc, they sent me an apology and I have had no problems since. All Blind Old Man did was upgrade to Windows 7, it didn't say whether he bought a NEW computer. If the Manufacturers Volume Drive Serial Number was used, it wouldn't matter if he upgraded to Windows 7 as it didn't matter when I upgraded from 98 to XP with Voyetra. The O/S would have nothing to do with the Registration of the program, thus even the mother board could be replaced without always having to notify Support first. Got it yet? or am I still over your heads? People, it is what you learn after you think you know it all, that counts. |

In this case .... ... without going into the details ( of which I only have a 'need to know' understanding ) .... You are referring to something that has very little to do with the way 1Click Verifies it's Registration ... again .... as I posted for BlindOldMan.... You may Transfer your 1Click Registration from an Old Computer to a New Computer Contact LGSI Support Provide them with your name , your 1Click Registration I.D. and the email address originally used to purchase 1Click Explain your Intentions in Detail ( Transferring your 1Click Registration to a New Computer ) LGSI Support will need to UNLOCK your Registration I.D. in order for you to Register your 1Click Software to a New Computer You may need to Renew your license to use a newer version. The 1Click Products License Renewal is $19.00 You can check your license renewal date here 1CLICK DVD COPY - LICENSE RENEWAL Here 1CLICK DVD COPY PRO - LICENSE RENEWAL Here FAQs: Why do I get an error trying to register (unlock) my software? .... beyond that ... You will need to Contact LGSI Support Registration and Purchase Issues - are strictly a LGSI Customer Support matter Agree , Disagree ..... or indifferent There is nothing that we can do for you here ![]()
